Venture AOT Skill Builds
Three loadouts that respect the doubling curve.
A skill build in Venture AOT is a shopping list with a budget that doubles after two unlocks. That is harsher than any gacha pity. These recipes assume you already press Y, reel, and blind. If not, getting started and how to kill titans are the real build.
Build 1 — Trainee (slot 1 only)
Buy: Gas Burst. Stop.
Play the trainee sequence until Burst is a reflex, not a panic. This is the build creators used when they wiped themselves for the Unlocking Your Skills video. It looks unfinished and it wins more streets than a three-skill mess.
Use it if:
- You still touch grass. How to swing.
- You still double-hit napes.
- You just joined after a test wipe. Closed testing.
Build 2 — Survival scout (slots 1–2)
Buy: Gas Burst, then a survival/mobility tool that matches your death log.
- Deaths to grabs → escape / i-frame if it exists in your patch.
- Deaths to empty tanks → more mobility, never a slash. Gas management.
- Deaths to missed necks → do not buy. Practice blinds.
This is the last cheap pair. After this, prices jump. If your second skill does not have a one-sentence job, wait. Rankings sit on the skill tier list.
Build 3 — Street closer (slot 3+ only when bored of winning)
Buy: a nape-assist slash after you can blind on command. The sentence is “this turns a set-up neck into a dead titan faster,” not “this looks like Levi.”
Squad variant: take a tool that marks or blinds for others if you are the caller in squad play. Solo variant: skip support and take the slash. Do not take both on the doubled curve unless you never die.
Anti-builds (do not copy)
- Montage first. Slash on slot one. You will miss, and Burst will cost double later.
- Revolution import. Families, orders, shifter regen. Not in this game.
- Script complete. Auto skills from a hub. Read script safety and then do not.
- Hoard forever. Saving 50 points for a rumor while you still die to grass. Buy Burst.
How to swap builds without a respec button
Public Freeplay may not offer a polite respec. Testers have wiped skills for filming. Do not count on a refund. That is why slot one is always Burst: every possible future build wants it. If a patch adds a respec NPC, this page will say so. Until then, spend as if every point is permanent.
Practice overlay
A build is only as good as the session plan:
- Courtyard reel, no skills. ODM controls.
- Enable Burst. Two blocks, G after each.
- One titan: blind, Burst if you miss, one cut, leave.
- If you still have the second slot empty, go hunt, do not window-shop.
For movement habits that matter more than any recipe, see the movement tier list. For when testers change the tank and make a recipe look smarter than it is, see updates.
Death-log template
After ten titans, write four ticks:
- Grass / dip deaths: ____ (W-hold → how to swing)
- Empty-tank deaths: ____ (gas management)
- Grab deaths: ____ (flesh hook or skipped blind)
- Missed nape deaths: ____ (how to kill titans)
The tallest tick picks slot 2. If missed nape is tallest, slot 2 stays empty. That is a build. People skip this log because it feels like homework. Those people own three slashes and still die in plazas.
Share the log with a squad so two cutters do not both buy the same doubled skill. Diversity on slot 2 is free teamwork.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Venture AOT questions.
What is the best Venture AOT build for beginners?
Gas Burst only. Everything else waits until you can reel and nape without panic.
Can I respec?
Do not count on it. Testers have wiped skills, but public refunds are not a feature we can promise.
Should my second skill be damage?
Only if your death log is not grabs or empty tanks. Most scouts still need mobility.
